Astrology
We are born at a given moment in a given place and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season in which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything else.

History

Babylonians astrologers created Western Astrology over 2000 years ago. At the time, astronomy and astrology developed side by side in response to the people's need for order in their lives. The astrologers predicted eclipses, dictated the planting season, and aided their people to navigate the unmarked deserts and the seas.

When Alexander the Great, the disciple and spiritual son of Aristotle, conquered Babylonia, he brought the practice back to his people who developed and perfected its methods.

Greek astrologers broadened astrology's influence to encompass forecasting war, natural disasters, and other events. Kings and emperors began using astrologers as advisers as they perfected their practices. Eventually, the practice spread to others. [1]

From our perspective on Earth, the planets appear to orbit around the Earth. As the Sun moves, they follow. The Sun never deviates from this path, and the planets follow about eight degrees north or south of it, creating an invisible belt, known as the Zodiac Belt. To understand planetary movement, the Ancient Egyptians developed the Zodiac, and the Babylonians tweaked it. he concept of Houses and the Aspects came later.

The early astrologers figured out it took 12 lunar cycles for the Sun to return to its place of origin. They identified the constellations behind each month and assigned it the name of an animal or type of person. They created the twelve signs of the Zodiac: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. The word Zodiac, derived from the Greek and means "circle of animals."
The astrologers further assigned character traits to each sign and a planet to rule it. The ancients considered the bodies visible to the naked eye to be planets: the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
